In 1962 Mobile Distributing Company started as a regional distributor for Gordon's Potato Chips. Like the other Gordon distributors across the country, they delivered to the local independent grocery stores in the signature red van. Around 1969 the company began selling counter display tubs filled with Bic and Lindy pens. Over the next few years the business added a small assortment of specialty office products. Nabisco bought Gordon's in 1972 and decided to buy back the franchises. Suddenly Mobile Distributing was out of the chip business. It had been suggested over the years to one of the owners that they enter the wholesale pen business. Soon after the buyout, the company expanded into the specialty office supply and pen wholesale business. The company was renamed Mobile Pen Company, Inc. (MPC) and operated out of a 7,500 square foot facility. In 1978, Frank Summersell and a partner bought MPC and rapidly grew the business into a 15,000 square foot facility. The company serviced college bookstores, independent office product retailers, stationers, drug stores, and jewelry stores throughout six southeastern states. During the mid to late 1980's the company's customer base began to shrink due to the onset of mass-market retailers with huge stand-alone stores. Google Analytics is a free Web analytics service that provides statistics and basic analytical tools for search engine optimization (SEO) and marketing purposes. The service is available to anyone with a Google account. Google bought Urchin Software Corporation in April 2005 and used that company’s Urchin on Demand product as the basis for its current service.
Google Analytics is geared toward small and medium-sized retail websites. The service has limitations that make it less suited to more complex websites and larger enterprises. For example, the system collects data through a JavaScript page tag inserted in the code of pages the user wants to collect data on. The page tag functions as a Web bug to gather visitor information. However, because it’s reliant on cookies, the system can’t collect data for users who have disabled them. Google also uses sampling in its reports rather than analyzing all available data.

Intuit has integrated several web-based features into QuickBooks, including remote access capabilities, remote payroll assistance and outsourcing, electronic payment functions, online banking and reconciliation, mapping features through integration with Google Maps, marketing options through Google, and improved e-mail functionality through Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express. For the 2008 version, the company has also added import from Excel spreadsheets, additional employee time tracking options, pre-authorization of electronic funds and new Help functions. In June 2007, Intuit announced that QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions would run on Linux servers, whereas previously it required a Windows server to run.
Intuit also offers a cloud solution called QuickBooks Online (QBO). The user pays a monthly subscription fee rather than an upfront fee and accesses the software exclusively through a secure logon via a Web browser. Intuit provides patches, and regularly upgrades the software automatically.
